Q: What is the active ingredient in tanning solutions?
A: DHA (dihydroxyacetone), It has been used in cosmetics and food applications for over 25 years. It reacts with the skins utmost top layer (stratum corneum!) to produce bronze a color. The reaction time is 3 to 12 hours and can continue to up to 24 hours. Q: How long will my tan last? A: Your tan will last between five to seven days, depending on your skin type. Just like a tan from the sun, it will gradually fade as your skin exfoliates. It also depends on how hydrated your skin is. | ![]() |
Q: What about allergic reactions? A: If you are allergic to other sunless tanning products or have hypersensitive skin, Tan and Glow LLC recommends checking with your physician before using the products. Q: Will the spray discolor my hair or clothes? A: The solution does not absorb into hair but you may elect to war a cap; that can be provided. If you choose to be sprayed with the solution containing bronzer, there is a chance some will transfer to your clothing. The bronzer is aloe vera based and will wash off most fabric. Avoid silks. Q: Will my DHA tan protect me from the sun? A: No. You should always wear sunscreen while outdoors. | |

*Exfoliate prior to tanning. This will increase the effectiveness of the tanning. *Try to avoid moisturizers 8 hours prior to your spray tan. You shouldn’t wear any makeup. (you’ll rub the solution off!) *Just prior to tanning you will be asked to apply barrier cream (lotion) to palms of hands, finger nails, toe nails, knuckles and on the back or your heels, where spray solution may collect. Barrier cream is not to be put on the bottom of your feet. *Use lip balm on lips, wear nose filter and eye coverage as offered in waiver. You may opt out. *For best results, it may take up to three sessions to develop your desired color. Maintaining your color is possible with subsequent visits every five to seven days. | |

* Wear loose dark clothing after your spray tan, this will prevent bronzer from showing up on lighter clothing and prevent the tanning solution from rubbing off. * Allow the initial application of the tan to remain on the skin for at least six to eight hours but ideally for twenty four hours. This will allow your tan to fully develop and will ensure the longest lasting results. * The length of time your spray tan will last depends on your skin type, the moisturizers and the frequency you tan. Healthy, hydrated skin will maintain result longer and achieve color faster. |

* Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!! *Use a sharp razor for shaving, pat dry after shaving. * Avoid the following if possible: Acne products, Alpha hydroxy acids, Anti-Aging Products, body hair bleach products, deodorant soaps, hair removal products, facial masks and exfoliating scrubs, prolonged exposure to chlorine pools or salt water, loofahs, scrub mitts. |
